You, Who Were Dead, God Made Alive!

Sermon for Sunday, July 29, 2007 @
8:30 a.m.
Colossians 2:13
The Rev. Scott E. Heitshusen

What are the desires of our hearts? If we are honest with ourselves, the desires we have are ones that are far from God’s desires for our hearts. Perhaps our desires are greed or lusts or for status or wealth. We can easily find what they are (and are not) by looking at our lives (how we spend our time and money) and our prayers (what do we ask of the Lord?). God tells us to “ask, seek, and knock” in light of the fact that we, who were dead are now alive in Christ! If that news does not change our focus and perspective, nothing will! Knowing we are God’s, changes us. It changes our hearts and minds. It changes our attitudes and motivations. It changes the “what” and “whys” of asking, seeking and knocking. It changes because in Christ, we are changed! May God bless your worship today!
